Some Haikus for Yous

Poor little ducky

Nobody gives him some bread

Go bite their ankles

As dawn turns to day

The dew dries on bended leaves

Who wants egg salad?

With five syllables

And now this one has seven

Here is my Haiku

Current moves quickly

Bubbles form at rivers edge

Are you my daddy?

A break from the heat

A cool breeze on a warm eve

Who ordered pizza?

Yo! Do you smell that?

What is this foul odor here?

Oh wait that was me.

Me make love to you?

Never in a million years!

That just costs too much.

Is it my turn now?

Knight to King seven, check mate.

This game of golf blows.

Are you feeding him?

The sign says don’t feed monkeys.

Hey, Get off my leg!

Some days I find peace

And peace surrounds all of me

This is not that day

  1. Serious art form,
Count three times before you print.
    Haiku blasphemy?

“Nobody gives him any bread” = 8 syllables
“Who wants some egg salad?” = 6 syllables

  2. Good catch. I counted them all like a 20+ times, but it was late and I was tired.

I think Haiku’s are fun. Besides, the 5,7,5 rule is not set in stone. It is the general rule, not the hard fast one. The Japanese Haiku tend to be 17 mora’s long, but they are known to be longer. And they write theirs in 1 long line.
