OK folks, onward with the DVD collection review. So today I watched the movie Hot Rod “starring” Andy Samberg. He plays “Rod Kimble, a stuntman with a fake mustache and a dream.” I remember seeing the preview and thinking to myself, “This movie looks super funny. A guy trying to jump a mail truck with a moped, How can you mess that up?”

Then I saw the DVD cover. Some great reviews here. “A funny and irreverent movie!” – Susan Carpenter, Los Angeles Times. “Very, very funny from start to finish!” – Rossiter Drake, The Examiner. “The funniest film I’ve seen in years!” -Carrie Keagan, NGTV.com.

Crackheads, all of them. I mean, are these people even friggin’ real?  Quick, someone Google them!  Anyway, half way through the movie I realized I had that “I-just-smelled-a-fart” look on my face, and it hadn’t changed since a couple of minutes after the movie started. Even after I realized this, I couldn’t make it go away. Even during the remake of the Footloose dance in the train barn scene; his version is in the woods; step for step, cigarette and beer throwing included, I couldn’t make it go away. This goes on , of course, until he falls off a cliff and begins to tumble down the mountain for about 90 seconds continuously, until I finally got bored with it and fast-forwarded.

This movie is idiotic. Brain numbing, did I just drool on myself idiotic.  It makes you wonder what these producers were on when they decided this would be great a great script to turn into a movie. My guess is the scene about the acid trip was a personal experience. Wait, I just read the back cover, Executive Producers Jimmy Miller & Will Ferrell. If it comes out on TV, and you absolutely nothing to do, and there is absolutely nothing on other then infomercials for products you already own; If you don’t own the products, you might prefer the informercial; and that lady that does chair exercises for old people, then maybe catch it and judge for yourself. But I wouldn’t put off, say, a root canal for it…
