Double DVD Day
I was going through all my DVD’s today, plugging them into a spreadsheet on my phone so that I don’t buy one I already own again (anyone want a directors cut of Alexander?). I realized that I have 18 movies that I own but have never seen, so I watched 2 today.
The first was The Heartbreak Kid. It’s the Ben Stiller movie where he gets married and finds someone else on his Honeymoon. This is an almost movie for me. I almost enjoyed the movie, I might even almost recommend it to a select few people. But unfortunately there 120 seconds that destroy the movie completely. Those 2 minutes are enough to ruin it, and that made me mad. Too bad to because I am a big fan of Ben Stiller and wanted to enjoy this one.
Then I watched Knocked Up. I expected a movie that was completely stupid & vulgar, maybe in line with Good Luck Chuck (the first time I ever left a movie feeling dirty, like my eyeballs were raped while my brain was tied down and forced to watch). Sure, there are some scenes that were reminiscent of Half Baked. But the majority of Knocked Up was quite enjoyable. Almost intelligent. Almost. It’s about having your life changed by the unexpected and how people cope. It’s well written and well executed. Some childishness, some stupidity, but also parts that were downright hilarious. The Vegas Hotel Scene had me laughing out loud. All in all, you can relate to these charectors and you become interested in their story. That’s a mark of a good movie in my book. If you haven’t seen this movie I recommend it. You can borrow it if you want.
Expect more DVD reviews to come fans, so stay tuned.
